I have hp pavilion home pc with windows 98.
offlate, I'm seeing the system hang when I browse using the IE.
first I suspected that the system does not have good ventilation and the processor might be choking due to the lack of heat dissipation.
but somehow, the system works fine when I
work on any other applicationThe system hangs only when I use IE or yahoo-messenger along with IE.
to be precise, it hangs when:
-- I scroll down OR
-- switch between multiple IE windows. Is it a known issue and is there a quick remedy for it?
--Matt.

Are you running IE6.0????
If so I recommend that you install 5.5 as there are known issues with IE6 with 98 and ME.
If you are running 5.5, reinstall or repiar it.
Hope this helps
Regards,
Simo

Do the usual things.. empty temporary files, and general housekeeping chores like keeping your Cookies folder cleaned up and doing an occasional defrag (once a month is usually enough unless you do large amounts of downloading / deleting). Also, if your hard disk is over 75% full, then this problem can happen a lot more frequently.
