Hello everyone: I am currently studying C.E.T (computer engineering tech)and I was given an assignment to change the Win98 startup logo to my name. Can someone please walk me thru the steps to do this? By the way the assignment is to be done this Tuesday.

If you don't see c:\logo.sys, that's ok. Just create a new file with paint and save it as c:\logo.sys. It has to be a certain resolution. I believe it's 320x400 (72 pixels) 256 colors.

I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll give you half the answer :). The name of the file you want to change is called logo.sys, located in the root drive (C:\). All you need to do is create a file with your name (this is your part, figuring out how to create the file). Then, rename logo.sys to something like logo.old. Name your file logo.sys and place it in the same place (C:\)that the original logo.sys is, when you start the computer it will use your file to display on the screen. I'll give you a hint: One Google search will give you the answer. Hey now, no name calling :-). Later!

In the most current versions of 98 there is no "logo.sys" it's imbedded in the "io.sys". All you have to do is create a .bmp that is 320 pixels wide by 400 pixels high by 256 colors. I know that doesn't seem the right size but trust me it is.
The files are in your WINDOWS directory. You can also go to the website: http://www.nucleus.com/~kmcmurdo/logos/
