256 MB? dont think that is really helping you anymore than 128? do you have lots of stuff going @ startup? they run in the background and suck up resources! if you have win98?go to RUN and type in MSCONFIG and go to STARTUP and START UNCHECKING! BUT LEAVE SCANDISK/TASKMON/LOADPWRPROFILE ALONE!

Do you run alot of other programs throughout the day? If so you also need to restart your computer probably once a day. Personally, I don't like to. But I had low system resources just recently and was told{by tech support} to restart at least once a day to clear memory. Like the other person said, you need to get rid of as much as possible at startup. I was having alot of problems with my computer then took alot off at startup and greatly improved my computers performance. One other thing, you need to try to keep your system resources above 80% or 90% if possible. I don't but so far have had no problems. You need to try. To check, go to start=settings=control panel=system=performance. You need to stay at least above 50% or 60%, otherwise you'll notice problems. At least I did.

I find it helps to just close out and relaunch my browser window(s) now and then, rather than do a complete restart. The Resouce Meter will give you a running indication of what is going on.
