I am having problems with win98... I am trying to install it on a blank computer, one that has, in the past, supported it before. It wi8ll get all the way to the part where it claims to take 30-60 minutes. I get to the end of the next part, then it says that it copuld nat copy/instal[l two files... Also, the DOS part does not go smoothly. I mean that certain files do not install, and off the top of my head, command.com, extract.exe, and something or other. Please help me.

Well, I am a middle aged female priest at level 15 on WoW... Heh heh, yeah right. I meant Neverwinter Nights.

This could be bad or dirty CD, bad or dirty CD reader, faulty memory, faulty hard drive, and possibly even faulty motherboard. Does this help?

Good luck.

This might sound crazy but wash CD with washing up liquid. Use thumb stroking outwards from centre. Rinse off and dry carefully.

DON'T try this if you haven't ever heard of it, it may ruin your cd (drive). Someone told me toothpaste helps scratches.

I've read the toothpaste idea too. I tried it once and it scratched the CD to blazes.

First thing I'd try, if you aren't doing it this way, is to copy the \Win9x folder off the CD onto a directory on the hdd, and run setup from there.

If the CD looks scratched, try "copying" the Cd if you have a burner

Yep, perhaps surprisingly, copying to HD often does the trick even if the CD is not 100%. I can only assume it is because it is copied in one chunk rather than the "to and fro" you get during Windows install.
