Got these computers running win98 with P3 600 128M ram 10 gig seagate drives, and half the time on boot up they lock up at the green screen just after the win98 startup screen and they dont load the task bar or nuthin, seems as if explorer.exe doesnt load or something. The mouse still works but all you have is a green screen with nuthing on it and no hard drive activity, sometimes a reset will work and other times not. Anyone heard of this before and know a fix?

Do an f8 during boot-up, just after the system recognizes the hard drive. single step thru each setp and see where it locks up. that will give you a clue to what's causing it.
Summary: Nope, can't install windows. Where it stands now is I can boot, it goes to the windows splash screen and freezes. Reboot into safe mode, shut down, give it a few minutes and then try again, same deal....
Summary: Sometimes - Win98 locks up on boot up with the message " Windows Protection fault - you need to restart your computer" - but only sometimes ??? Any ideas ???...
