win98 does not recogn my CD-Rom drive

i have just reformatted part. C....with win98 and reinstalled win98 and other software from part. D: but win98 did not detect cd drive...I have exchangeable cd-rom and FDD but left my cd intact while setting up Win98..used same driver as on a prev. installation but this time sys cannot find the drive anymore...
appreciate any help
heard that win98 had bugs regarding drivers?

Have you tried installing a standard ATAPI driver on to the C: drive ? I can send you the files if you need by e-mail.
