OS: Win98
CPU/Ram: Pent / 64mb
Comment:

I have copied the contents of an older Win95 file and Installed Win98 on the HD.

I need one of the dial-up networking files used when Win95 was on that PC.

When searching the copied files...I can only find the SHORTCUTS to the dail-up networking files...but not those files themselves. Does anyone know where those are stored?

Thanks

Right click the shortcut and choose properties. In the "Target" box will show where the file was previously.

If you mean objects from the Dial Up Networking folder, those refer to registry entries. Probably not be accessible since you've changed the OS. Something like Dial-Up Magic can be used to export or import your connection info, but it would have to be from the original OS, I would think.

The TARGET does not do it...very odd...
it only points to the FOLDER, but not the actual file.

Sounds odd...but it's true. The actual items themselves...in the Dial-Up Networking Properties folder....do NOT show a location either...when selecting the properties.

See for yourself if you have an 95 or 98 computer handy...they are very odd. Possibly...they are only icons for registry entries.

I think that's what I said - hence the reason for using an application to export the settings (hello?)

The primary focus of my previous post was to follow up to jubal's comment....while agreeing with your comments.

I apologize for crediting your contributions more specifically.
