Defrag gives this error when there are errors on the disk. First run the scanw.exe program to fix this. After this has been fixed, defrag should run withour errors

Sorry to disappoint you, but the problem is with Bill Gate and his Microsloth Windoze. Bill in his "infinite wisdom" decided that since NO ONE would EVER have a computer with a hard drive bigger than 8GB, they would write both scan disk and defrag for that limit. My 30 gig'er won't run either program. Check out the Microsloth site for yourself.

I am getting the above error message defrag009 and it does't allow me to run Scandisk or Defrag from windows 98. The error says I don't have enough memory to run the programs. I have PIII with a 20G HD and 64MB of RAM. My resources are 87% free and that should be enough to run my system. How can I fix this probem. Also, this error for scandisk and defrag pops up during the use of other applications as well. Please advise.

The problem is that you cluster size is to low. Install partition magic go to the advanced tap and reset the cluster size to 16k. Your computer will reboot into dos then reboot again and its fixed
