I'm currently using ramdrive.sys to create a RAM-Disk under Win95. But still, I'm not very happy about the fact that ramdrive.sys doesn't work without himem.sys which is actually a DOS-driver. I have noticed some performance problems due to this and the properties dialogue of "My computer" also displays that a DOS driver may cause performance probs. Is there any other way to create a Win95 RAM-Disk without ramdrive.sys? Is there a RAM-Drive program for Win95 that doesn't require XMS or EMS memory?
Thanks ahead,
Matthew

Hey, ramdrives are wonderful and I use Win98. I create a ramdrive when my system boots up and then I have my internet cache set to store everything on the ramdrive so when I turn my computer off, WHAM all that crap disappears! I love using mine.
Anyway, you use memory as a ramdrive, you have to have a memory manager installed like himem.sys. Himem.sys loads under Win98 even if it isn't in your config.sys file. It's required by Windows98.
A better ramdrive program, however, is xmsdsk.exe
It allows you to set nearly everything, like what drive letter to use, how much RAM to use, and loads in the autoexec.bat file.
I forgot where I downloaded it from but it is small and easy to use.Preston
