win95 directory is all messed up

A friends computer has tons of dir 00001 files. Is ther anyway to fix it?

Not easily. You'd have to check each directory to see what's in it. Then, you would have to know the correct directory name to rename the DIR0000x to. That's very difficult even for experienced PC users. If you have important files you need to save, then I'd first try to find them and save them. Otherwise, I'd re-format and re-install everything from scratch.

Do you use Norton Anti-virus? There was a problem with a recent virus update. You get msgsrv32.exe not responding.
