While in the process of repairing a friend's computer I came across a problem that I've never encountered before. I did fix the original problem but now at boot-up the machine boots properly to Win95 but during the process drops to DOS. I do the exit command and everything is fine. I've checked the startup folder, autoexec.bat, win.ini, did a quick look at the registry for anything unusual and found nothing to cause this. Any ideas?? Thanks so much!

Hi Leon,

Try to boot in logged mode. Simply, press F8 while seeing Starting Windows 95.. then choose logged boot.

At the point you face DOS prompt, then edit the bootlog and scroll down to the end. You will find what exactly the problem...

Hope this can help you :)

Regards,
Hermawan
