after some problems, I re-installed win95 and it goes thru the motions and even does
the auto re-start step. But, once there it hangs on the 'getting ready to run windows 95 for the first time". I formatted the hard drive and began from scratch..this is what I'm getting. I also tried installing only dos 6.22 and this worked fine. Any ideas on how to get this to boot into win95/past the into screen?

The only think that I can think of is there is a virus in the boot sector of your hard drive. Get rescue disk from a friend with updated anti-virus software. run the rescue program (the rescue disk is self booting) and then re-install Windows 95 with the virus warning feature in you BIOS turned off.

mayb u forgot 2 transfer the system files from your boot disk.
try booting to your bootdisk. once u get 2 the a: prompt, type
sys c: and then press enter. this should transfer your system files 2 make your main drive bootable.
i went through your same scenario last time i reinstalled, and this worked.
good luck
