I had problems with installing it on a pentium 2 - 33mhz... the machine just wasn't fast enough to handle it..
you may have better luck, but if i were you, i'd stick with 98se... xp is good, but only seems to be good if you have a comp over 600mhz

Forget about upgrading to Windows XP. Your CPU is too slow, and your computer probably doesn't have enough RAM. Windows XP will install and run best with a computer that has a CPU with a minimum speed of 600 - 800 MHz and has at least 256 MB of RAM.

I have both a Windows 98SE and a Windows XP computer. I enjoy both operating systems.

Run Fdisk and chose lagre partitioning and delete partitions and recreate atleast two set C: as active and format C:\ s
then format the other partition and install Windows98 once completed install XP from with in W98 and chose NEW install NOT upgrade and it will setup dualboot for you make sure you direct it to install on D:
Good luck.

Try XP Advisor too see if you are compatible.
I hope you are on cable. I think it is over 30mb.

xp advisor is built into xp so if you have the OS you wont need to download the 30mbs. just pop the disk in.

I put xp on a 333 with 228 ram. No problem, it handled it fine. and that was with an upgrade from 98. Yes it is slower but so much more fun and stable, the advantage to a p2 is the 512 l2 cashe which really helps out your computer. ps.. I also am running office on it fine. the main thing is the ram, xps are ram hogs.
