I assume this is a windows specific modem? LT = light ? I strongly suggest not using any modem that is a windows specific modem- I suggest- terminating any relationship with a US-Robotics or 3Com product- Never had any success with them- ever- sketchy at best- I currently us- a Jaton 336 in my windows 95 machine- no problems! I use an AOpen 56k in my NT 4.0 server, no problems- I did have two US-Robotics modems- cost me a good buck too- they where garbage. Same type of trouble your having and more. The two I have now cost less than one of the others....

LT=Lucent Technologies There is nothing wrong with a winmodem if all you use it for is surfing. If you're a hardcore online gamer or power user then a controllered modem is recommended. A new driver for your modem is the only thing you can do. If that doesn't work trash it. Be sure there aren't any hardware conflicts also.
