To be on the safe side, I'd install the fewest # of components that you can get by with (maybe specify a laptop installation). Don't put a lot of wallpaper, themes, etc. on your desktop because they're resource hogs. Also, keep your startup items to a bare minimum. Put the shortcuts on the Quick Launch toolbar instead. That way you can load what you need when you need it and it won't bog your system down.

Even in my pent 200mmx I have w98 installed and i have all sorts of programs and wallpaper and no boggin down at all Just remember to clear your cache regulary, A good program for this is called "System Security Suite" and you can find it @ www.moochers.com

Installing a lot of programs doesn't hurt (if you have the disk space), as long as they aren't running. They take up a miniscule amount of memory in the Registry, but that's about all.
Summary: i cant seem to reinstal win 98 properly i am using the win 98 disc that came with pc and had no problems till now been told that my cd may be damaged it is registered do i have to buy a new operating ...
Summary: I have been trying ot fix a Laptop at work (RM VM7000 series) which was running Win 98. It was freezing and crashing constantly. I deleted the entire hard drive...thinking I could just re-install win ...
