Win 98 will not open

When I turn on computer,after start up I get message "disc error remove disc and press any key to continue"There is no disk in either drive. When I press a key I get same message HELP

To start with.
Boot from a floppy and run scandisk to make sure your hard drive is ok.

Also, boot to a win 98 startup disk, switch to c: and see if the info is still on c or if c cannot be found at all. Check jumper settings and ribbon cable as well

follow the instructions above. If c: is there and the files are still on c: you *boot Files* may have been corrupted.

at the dos prompt type
sys c:[and press enter]
you should now be able to boot.
(sys.com must be on the bootdisk)

I have the same problem with the difference
that I cannot access c: anymore (after startup disk I get info about no valid FAT32,
possibly Virus on C or incompatible repartition programme.
My win98 startup disk does not contain
sys.com
I have checked cables etc. Any helpful
tips out there? thanks
