I know this sound like I think you are stupid, butare you sure it is a modem you are connecting to, or may it be an ethernet card? Some people do not realise the plug holes look the same.

HI If you are sure you have it connected correctly pick up a phone and see if it is dead. You say it will not boot up, you need to expand on that comment. Nothing happens, it will not post, posts but will not load windows, or loads windows and freezes?
