Comment:

When Windows 98 starts, after all icons appear on the desktop, I am receiving an error message that reads:

"Taskmon caused invalid page fault in module Taskmon.exe at 015F:004012AC"

Any insight to this puzzling error would be greatly appreciated.

Check your startup folder for too many programs launching at startup. Systray and Explorer stay, one of the others might be causing the problem, remove one at a time and reboot to find which one is doing it.
Taskmonitor keeps track of what happens, so when you run defrag, it'll put the most frequently used programs at the outer edge of the HD. But it only works for MS programs.

Just reporting a similar problem to Mario (above). My system crashes EVERY SINGLE TIME I shut down. I get the taskmon.exe error, and when I click out 'close', my system hangs and I have to flick the switch off. What is going on? I'm getting really fed up with this problem - CAN ANYBODY HELP?
P.S. I know NOTHING about programming, so go easy, OK?
