Comment:
I have a Toshiba laptop that I am using as my desktop is under the weather. When it starts up I get the following:
Can't find: VREDIR.VXD
Press a key to continue.
I press a key and then get the same thing for dfs.vxd. Press a key and it loads fine.
What are these two files? Do I need them? Where can I find them?

All of those post are great advice. Thanks.

Unfortunaly I treid all of them and extracted the files to the drive that popped up with I extracted them using unzip program. Also used the SFC command. No luck. When I restart the laptop I still get the errors. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Great! I got it to work, was putting it in the System 32 folder instead of the system folder. It seems to work fine now.

If I could only get the scan disk to work I would be in business.

SFC is great if you are replacing original files. Don't use it where files get updated (such as IE & OE).

Maybe scandisk has lost some files too. What happens when you try it, nothing at all or an error message?

You probably already know but just in case, the ME defrag is way faster than the 9x version.
