Hello,
I just received an MP3 player that requires Windows 98 second edition. I have seen on this website that an upgrade CD is available from microsoft for $20, but I can't find it on their site. Does anyone know the exact URL where I can purchase this upgrade?
Thank you,
Michelle

From your post, I assume you are running Whambos 98 FIRST edition, and you want to find a cd for the UPDATE to the SECOND edition, is that right?
You probably don't want an UPGRADE unless you want to spend more money.
Upgrade cd's are for installing SE when you have an earlier version (95 or 98 first) for confirmation.
UPDATE is the cheaper CD that UPDATES 98 First edition to 98 Second edition.
Might try directdeals.com

What sound card do you have? If you have a Creative card (SoundBlaster/Audigy), use their player for MP3, I find that much better and lighter program to run then MS player.

I think Michelle's MP3 player is a portable player.
I am running Win98FE and have a Sony Digicam that requires Win98SE if I want to upload the movies to my PC and have sound with them.I have installed the digicam to find that the sound will not record just like the Sony manual stated.
I have seen Win98SE upgrade CD for as low as $89 but just to get sound on my movies is not worth it. For $20 I would go for it.
I could upgrade to WinXP for about $100 but this PC is not compatible enough to XP.
I got the Windows Update (Service Pack 1) a long time ago from MS for free ($5 S&H) and it is not the same as the upgrage required. The CD case says "Includes Year 2000 updates, enhanced hardware and software support and more for Windows 98."
Maybe they should have come out with a Service Pack 2.Bryan

Bryan

Thanks for all the fantastic advice. I have had this MP3 player for nearly a month and was very frustrated that I couldn't use it. I finally asked a friend with Windows XP to let me use their computer to transfer music. It is a sony portably MP3, sorry I didn't include that in my original message.
I appreciate all the help and will remember you in the future when I have computer issues.
Thanks,
Michelle
