Could it be that your computer isn't getting enough juice?? make sure you don't have too many things pluged up in the same socket and that it's not connected to a "thin" extension wire...
Could it be a virus?? i had the same problem a couple days ago and it was the W32/Klez.I virus but besides shutting down my computer was acting crazy doing other things, read message 121746 on this forum...
Could it be something else?? I don't know...

Yeah, I recently worked on one that did that and it was the power supply. I gave no other symptoms that it was bad.
Summary: I am having problems shutting down WIndows 98 second edition; it'll go to the "Windows is shutting down" screen but that's it, and I have to shut my computer off by shutting off the power to it. When ...
