Since it's XP, you probably patitioned the drive with the NTFS file system. Win9x can't natively see NTFS partitions. You can try to use Fdisk or you can use a program from Sysinternals called NTFS for Win98 to read the drive.

Have a look here - http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/ntfswin98.shtml

Hi,
Try unhooking your primary hard drive and hook up your "G" hard drive in its place so that it is the only one hooked up. Be sure to move the jumper from slave to master. This should do what you ask. HTH.
Good Luck,

Tom is correct. Suggestion in Response #2 will not help.
You could use DelPart to remove all partitioning on the second drive. Be careful to not accidently do the first drive. Then you can use fdisk to repartition it for win9x use.

DelPart download

Hi y'all,

e-raz

Caution,
As response #2 suggested, remove the drive, you are not working on..( To be safe, and not format anything, on the four partition drive.)Your G: drive will be C: in fdisk. If you partition, more drives, they will be D:,E: etc..When you are done partitioning and formating, and hook that drive into your system, as a slave, it will be recognized as D: If you have other partitions, on the slave drive, they will be lettered, after the G: on the master drive...

Example:
Master drive= C: E: F: G:
Slave drive= D: ( H: I:) if there are more than one partition on the Slave drive.
Any Optical drives, on the machine, will be lettered, after the last partition letter, of the Slave drive...

Hope it helps...
