Hard drive formated, clean win98/2nd and clean Win XP/PRO installs. Using dual boot method. Everything works perfectly except one thing. When you reach the boot loader selection screen and choose F8 to select startup options (Safe Mode) and are then automaticaly returned back to the OS selection screen to choose the OS to boot to it still boots in normal mode on the Win 98 selection. XP works perfectly in this procudure. Final result is that you cannot enter safe mode for Win98? Called microsoft twice and they did not have a clue. Anyone with the above combo for dual boot see if they can duplicate?

John, the only way that I have found to enter Safe Mode in Win98 with a dual-boot system is to go to msconfig>advanced and put a check next to "enable boot menu on startup". OK your way out & reboot. You should then get the "normal" Win98 F8 boot menu.
