I bought an 80 gig HD and want to put on windoze 95 and then 2000. When i try to install windoze 95 from the cd rom in the dos mode it says i need 7340032 bits on your c drive. Not quite sure what this means. I have created a boot partition in fdisk. I had this problem and then when i got passed it and installed 95 a message came up after i restarted and said windows protection error, please restart. I did and got the same message. I know about format c:/u and did that. This is becoming i problem. Please tell me an easy way that i can just install 95. thanx in advance.

Are you trying to install 2 operating systems on one partition?

So many unanswered questions here...

Are you attempting to setup a dual-boot system, or are you only installing Win95 because your Win2K is an Upgrade CD? If it is the latter, you don't need to install Win95 at all. Just install Win2K. At some point during setup, you will be asked for proof of a previous Operating System. Insert the Win95 CD (or Disk 1, if it a floppy version). Setup will look for a few files, then prompt you to reinsert your Win2K CD & continue with setup.

What version of Win95 is it? Win95 Original & Win95A didn't support FAT32 Partitions & were limited to FAT16 Partitions, which have a maximum size of 2-GB.

How did you partition your HD? One 80-GB partition, or several smaller ones? Versions of fdisk prior to WinME won't see all of your 80-GB HD.

Post back with a little more info & we'll be happy to try to help.

HTH

Dave

We're always learning something new. I didn't know about processor speed with Win95. I am not sure if jeremy is re-installing 95 on the same drive as 2000 is installed. If so, he has two problems, not one.

Dave:
i did get to the win2k setup where it asks for proof of another OS. I put in my win 95 rom, win 98 rom, win 95 floppy, and win 98 floppy. Weird how none of these can be read. Cd rom spins, but still asks me for proof. The floppys dont even read. Any feedback?

When you put in the CD for proof, try browsing to the win9x folder
