my story continues - now that i've gotten my mouse working after yesterday's trouble, the keyboard is gone. bought a new one - didn't help. started up in safe mode (keyboard works there by the way), deleted the keyboard using device manager and restarted windows normally. keyboard still won't work. what else can i try?

thanks,

tj

If you deleted the keyboard in the device manager, then why would it work? Just unplug in, delete it, then plug it back in, restart, and it should install itself. Or just use the application recovery disc (if you have one, which most people do).
