win 95 and cd rom both quit

We lost win95 and the cd rom drive "d". the win95 came on my computer. Can't seem to install any win programs now. Of coursse, if my d drive worked, it might be easier. Any suggestions? Also tried to install win98 with no luck. Help???
Can you give a some clue as to how Windows got "lost", or is figuring out that part of our exciting challenge? (What preceded, or was going on when it happened.)

Please be more spacific. What do you mean by "lost"? Can the computer boot to Win95 at all? You need to be as spacific as possible if you want help.
If all you want to do is get the computer back up and running reguardless then visit www.bootdisk.com and download a clean bootdisk (with CD-ROM support) for the OS you wish to install (Win95 or Win98). Use it to boot the machine to a DOS prompt from the A drive. From there you can go to the CD-ROM drive and install Windows.
