Hello,
I just rebuilt a AT system for a guy and I am having a problem.
On his old system, somehow the power supply, 1 of 4 HD's, and the Mobo went sour.

I replaced them all and have to power cycle it several times in order to get it to boot up.

If it does boot, it goes into windows fine and everything appears to work.

If it does not boot, it just sits there, no error beeps, no video, sometimes I have cycled power 10 times before getting it to come up.

All the jumpers are right, I don't get any errors while booting in DOS or Windows.

Any help appreciated!

Really sounds like the CPU went sour to me.

Just how many devices are you running off the AT - looks like 4 hard drives plus whatever else ? floppy plus ? cdrom
It sounds like the power supply is struggling to get everything up and running.
What size is the power supply ?

Check and make sure the power connectors P8/P9 are pushed all the way down onto the pins. Check and make sure the video card is securely seated, maybe remove it and use contact cleaner on the contacts to ensure they are clean. Spray the slot it goes into as well. Dirt can cause intermittent probs like this. And definitely use at least a 300 watt power supply.

Well, thanks for all the help

It looks like it was the memory stick.

I replaced it with a new one and it works GREAT. No beeps, no fouls, and no errors.

Later!
