hi,
Just bought a HP w1907 LCD monitor which native resolution should be set to 1440 x 900.
However, I can´t get this option on my system - it has a i740 video driver running on Win98.
Any ideas rather than updating to a new computer?
Thanks

You need to download the latest graphics driver for your card/chip that will suppoort Win98. Even then it is doubtfull you will be able to use a widescreen resolution.

To be clear on this topic, the video drivers are what determine what resolutions are available. The display drivers just show the resolutions that the display is capable of from the list the video driver is capable of.

That graphics system is about ten years old and may not be capable of widescreen display. You can check the specs and perhaps download updated drivers from Intel here:

http://www.intel.com/support/graphi...

Even if you can't get the i740 to display widescreen, there are other alternative to buying an entirely new computer. For example, you can install a graphic card that's capable of your desired resolution or select a different monitor.

added: I was able to find this list of supported screen resolutions in the Datasheet PDF document:

320x200
320x240
512x384
640x350
640x480
800x600
1024x768
1280x1024
1600x1200

Thanks, I guess I will try a new graphic card.
