Windows 98 isn't clicking, the hard drive is clicking. And that clicking usually means the hard drive is shot & needs to be replaced. Hopefully you have all your important files backed up to some other storage devices (CDs, DVDs, external hard drive, etc) because the chances of retrieving them are slim.

Yeah, a clicking drive is almost always a dead drive. You can run FDISK after booting from a 98 bootdisk or cd (I'm not sure if you can run it from the restore disk). You'll probably get an error either 'no fixed disk present' or 'error reading fixed disk'.

But if it does get to the fdisk menu, choose option 4 and post back what it says.
