Why doesn't my hyperlink show up?

I thank everyone who answered my question yesterday about how to create "clickable links"(hyperlinks).

I followed the instructions and tested it by adding it as a reply at the end on an old post on this board(so it wouldn't clutter up the active messages)

But when I confirmed the post and went to look at it, there was NO hyperlink in the message.

What did I do wrong?

After you used the code inside the brackets did you make sure you put what you wanted the link to say behind it? I too learned from Robert Bale, and his is the simplest page to learn from.

Oops! I just checked and noticed that I had left out the closing quotation mark. That's why it didn't work.

If you want to really see why you copy and paste when doing hyperlinks, do a page source on ENTER_Terris WebSpace! And you can also learn about colors, font sizing......most of Rbt Bales' site instructions in one line. :)

BTW, here’s an HTML Test Bed that will allow anyone to test their code, so they don’t have to use this forum to do their testing. (Hint!)

Ok, thanks RM,

On another matter, will your DELINDEX.DAT program work on NT?

HAPPY CAMPER, I'd like to make a suggestion on the fonts. I tried using cool fonts before on my website. Only problem is that if other people computers do not have those fonts on their computers all their gonna get is plain old arial fonts, or maybe new times roman. I'm not sure which windows reverts back to for default fonts. I do have some goodies that work like this:

ENTER TERRI'S WEBSPACE

Happy Camper-

RE: Delindex on NT: I don't know and have no way of finding out. Do you know anyone with NT willing to try it? Personally, I wouldn't try it unless I knew something about the OS, DOS, and could test the various parts before actually running it.

I assume NT still has index.dat files, if it uses IE. Which is why I'd want to delete them on ANY OS.

BTW. HC, who were those IS guys who were "out to get you?!"

You can also test HTML by using notpad to make the test and save it as a HTM file instead of TXT. When you click on it, it will be opened by Internet Explorer.

RM,
I don't even remember the topic of my post a week or 2 ago(I was asking for help on some problem, I know that)when that guy 1st "surfaced". But he offered a link to a help site, and it was an explicit and outragious gay photograph.

I answered right back asking if the guy had no life and got his jollies from messing with people and tricking them into viewing twisted pornographic images, or what. I also asked if the BoardHosts couldn't keep that guy from postingand warned other people not to click on his link(I didn't think about the "Report Offensive Follow Up...." link at the bottom of every post, maybe others did)

But on the very next post about trying to remove sensitive medical information search topics from my Adminstratively controlled work computer, he 1st started making strange comments about being my "IS Administrator" and "knowing about the porn site that were visited at work"(Ha) and was going to fire me, etc,...etc. Those and other thinly vailed(sp?) strange gay comments and insulting replys followed those on other posts(under a different name)

He obviously is mad at me for complaining to the BoardHosts, but I just think the guy is a jerk and think he should get a life, you know? That kind of behavior does not belong on this board where people are honestly trying to solve problem and learn.

I'm sure that if this topic wasn't getting much attention he would have "surfaced" here.

Anyway, yes NT does have index.dat files in all the areas you mentioned them.

And, Thanks Terri. I'll check your site out. I've been there before. Really cool with lots of good freeware and other stuff. I'll check it out for hypertext fonts now.

Boy, my learning curve is pretty steep at this point. I love computers, the more I learn.

Thanks guys,
HC
