Why Can't I use 800x600 resolution???

my videocard is a s3 virge 325 pci and i don't know y i can't use 800x600 resolution all the other resolutions are ok but only in 800x600 then my screen gets distorted??? know any way/s to solve this???? i've tried updating my driver and it doesnt work too...it'll take a genius to figure this out.......

The card might not support that resolution, check the readme or help for the card, or go to virge's site for info. Try setting the colors to a lower level at that resolution. You didn't mention which OS you have or other details of your system.

The problem may also be your monitor. It may need to be identified properly, particularly if yu are running any of the windows os.

It's definetely the monitor. I know this card - it supports the 800x600 resolution.

I have some problems also with my monitor. I cannot use the 800/600 resolution. I have a monitor which is pretty old(since 1991), a SAMTRON. Can this be the reson. My video card is pretty new-S3, and I use Win95. Thanks for your responses
