OS: Windows 95
CPU/Ram: P-IV 1.7, 256 DDR
Comment:

I have system configuration as P-IV 1.7, Intel 845 GLAD Original motherboard, 256 MB DDR SD RAM, 40 GB Hard disk.

On this system I can install Windows XP professional (OEM) successfully & it's running well, but after installation of Windows-95 on first re-boot of system it says "While initilizing device IOS: Windows protection error, you need to restart your computer"

Any remedies !!!!

I’ve seen others post with this problem and really think this is the answer:

check this

The article was written for AMD K6 II CPUs 350MHz and faster but I think that the problem is WIN95B at CPU frequencies higher than 350MHz independent of whether they are AMD K6 IIs or not. The catch 22 with this patch is that it must be installed in WIN95 which means that your OS has to be up and running. When I’ve done this with AMD K6 IIs, I’d jumper the CPU to 300MHz, install WIN95B, install the patch, and then jumper the CPU to the correct frequency. If you are using a CPU that clocks at 1.7GHz, I doubt it can be jumpered to clock at under 300MHz so I don’t know how you’d load the OS and the patch.

you can put that hard drive in a slower system, install Win95, cancel all the driver installations, install patch, remove hard drive to put in original computer.

OF COURSE using MS knowledge database I searched for IOS; Results:
