Hi, Could somebody please help. I was at Google and my laptop just froze, so I reset the computer and it came up with a device VKD error and I am stuck at the windows splash screen. I followed instructions from a previous post(running scandisk in dos) and it could not complete. Basically I think there are some major drive errors, but am unsure. Could someone please make a suggestion or do you think I will have to use a data recovery service!?

yeah, I've seen this before. This is what microsoft reckon it is and what you should do, but i think it didn't work for me lastime, but it's definitly worth trying:

A friend had that problem after running scanreg/restore, reinstalling Norton AntiVirus took care of it for him. If you use NAV might be worth a try Good luck

Better still, if you're going to reinstall norton;s, don't bother. Get AVG at www.grisoft.com. It's 100% free and doesn't cause anywhere near the problems Norton's does..
