I have just installed Windows 95 onto a clean drive, but when the setup is finalising, it keeps hanging with the following message: WHILE INIALISING DEVICE IOS: WINDOWS PROTECTION ERROR. PLEASE RESTART COMPUTOR. Does anyone know how to overcome this.

Carl, There is a patch for this prob. on http://www.bootdisk.com. in patches, name is IOSfix495allver. Al

I have seen several other posts in this forum on this problem. I checked in to it. It is a update for rmm.pdr called rmm2upd.exe read the instructions in rmm2upd.txt

I am having the same error - however unlike you lucky people - I can't get into safe mode so i can't run these patches. I have a AMD-K62-500 CHIP AND WINDOWS 95 RELEASE B please help if you can. Very frustrated.

I am having the same problem. I was trying to delete a few things on my computer. When I started my computer back up this is the message I get. It will also not pick up my CD Rom Drive so I can not reinstall windows 95. Please help.
