I deleted Wscript.exe because it was running in excess of 20 times at any given time and I couldn't do anything because the PC kept freezing. After I got rid of Wscript,I ran an online virus checker which has removed the HAPTIME virus that was presumably causing the problem. I now constantly get a window seeking the location of Wscript. Can anyone tell me where I can obtain the file Wscript.exe to re-instal it ?
Also I keep getting an internet explorer window saying that an ActiveX control on the page might be unsafe to interact with other parts of the page. Does anyone have any ideas what this means and how I can prevent that window from constantly appearing
Thank you
Gus

Email?
You actually sent him the file?
Since he gave you no info on his system, how did you know what VERSION to send him. Version numbers are important. You can't just install any old file just because the name is the same.Further, he will be crazy if he really installs and exe file sent to him from someone on a forum!

Again, this does not NECESSARILY reinstall the correct version. If updates have been done, the wincd version is old!

Eh? is absolutely correct in that there are 3 different versions of wscript.exe and if one upgrades a program(i.e. Internet Explorer)it may very well update the wscript.exe file. You can check it out by going to the MICROSOFT DLL link below my name(Homepage:)and type in wscript.exe click the "Submit" button and when the 3 versions shows click the "more information" aside of each one.
Note: Even though the site is DLL Database you can find files & versions other than DLL's.

Yahoo scanned with Norton the wscript file that RT sent me and ,having installed it,all seems to be well. Thanks for all the help.
Gus

If your PC was always asking for Wscript after you removed it, and it no longer is, then you are still infected with a scripting virus.
Wscript does NOT run in a normal windows environment.
