Where do I find Wordpad exe?

Comment: Hi Bob, I have a question regarding a file I may have erased. I have
Windows 95 and I often use guestbook addresses to click on
and send newsletters, updates, etc (I'm a cartoonist). Recently I erased a bunch of files and I went back to my
duties of clicking on guestbooks (yawn) and it said I need
winpmail to do this function. it was not in my files so I must
have erased it by mistake while cleaning up so I redownloaded it.
Then I tried my duties again and it said I needed wordpad exe
to open winpmail. so i looked in my accesories and saw i do
have wordpad but not wordpad exe. so i looked all over the
net for it and cannot find it. Is it a part of Windows 95 or IExplorer? I do not have my
Win 95 disks as I bought the computer used and did not get
the disks. Can I redownload IE and it will copy over existing files and
show up? Look forward to hearing. Please email

Reply: (edit)Rick, Both files are part of Windows OS. Wordpad is an updated version of Write. I upgraded to Win98 and have both files. In the file manager (windows explorer)
"wordpad.exe" is located in:
C:\Program Files\Accessories "write.exe" is located in:
C:\Windows From the desktop - - -
Start/Programs/Accessories
Right click on Wordpad and then left click Properties. You will see the directory where the file is located and that the application file for the program is "wordpad.exe" The file has been sent to your email. After downloading, place it in the "Program Files\Accessories" directory.

Reply: (edit)HELP! I have windows98 and many of my programs are messed up & kids are REALLY UPSET.(Especially since they r off for xmas holiday.
Heres the story..The kids have ICQ..and when they try 2 open it...2 messages appear:
1. and "X" in a circle (in a rectangulat box) stating: c:\ProgramFiles\ICQ\ICQ99B.Log
A device 2 the system is not functioning.
2. A "!" in a triangle (in a rectangular box) stating: THE WORDPAD.EXE FILE is linked 2 a missing export MFC42.DLL:5250
What does this mean? And how do i get their ICQ back? also netscape gets the same messages (lost that too) :o-<
