How is it goofy?
Try and deal with it.
The only way to learn.General Maintenance:
1. Keep your StartUp folder clean.
Keep only programs shortcuts there you wish to run all the time.
(Mine are Anti-Virus , Crashguard and QuikRes)
2. Clean your Internet Explorer Tempory Internet files, Cache, and History folder.
A} You can use the Internet Options to clean these files but it will not clean Cookies and sometimes
does not clean all the files.
( I use Internet Options \Internet Properties Advanced, Security, Delete save pages on closing.)
B} Make a new folder in your drive or in your Start Menu create a shortcut to your desktop.
Find your Tempory Internet files and History folder create shortcuts and place them
in this new folder. (Clean Cookies & left over files.)
3. Clean Netscape 4.50 Cache and History.
A} Use Edit Preferences in your Netscape Window.
Click on Navigator to to clean History & Location Bar.
Double click Advanced Cache to clean Cache.
B} Find your Cache folder and place a shortcut in the new folder.(Clean left over files.)
4. Clean Cookies in your Windows Cookies folder.
Find your Cookie Folder and create a shortcut in your new folder.(Clean Cookies)
5. Clean your Temp folder.
Find Temp folder and place shortcuts in the new folder.
6. Use Scandisk if your computer doesn't do so automatically after bad shut down.
( I use Nuts&Bolts Disk Minder )
7. Use Disk Defragmenter.( I use Nuts&Bolts Disk Tune)
8. Clean registry install and use Regclean.(I use Nuts&Bolts to Registry Wizard ) .http://pages.hotbot.com/arts/gorx/index.html

where can a dumb peon who isn't computer wise get info on saving all files prior to reinstalling Windows 98?
