I am building a new system and so far it is got the better of me. I have started with a barebones system: My motherboard is a ASUS, A7V266, VIA KT266, I checked and I have the latest BIOS, CPU is an ATHLON 1600XP (1.4 GHZ) I added 512 MB DDR RAM (major brand), My hard drive is a 40 GIG 7200 rpm IDE Western Digital, my video card is a VisionTek AGP Geforce2 64MB, my CD is a SONY 16X IDE DVD-ROM no decoder installed at this time only using as a CD drive, My floppy drive is a TEAC, my case is new with a 300 Watt power supply. I have WINDOWS 98 installed on the system. OK my problem is errors when I do a restart after the 2nd or 3rd one I get errors (While initializing device Window protection error VDD: another one is Windows Protection Error MSGSRV32: another one is Windows Protection Error CONFIGNG: another one is WINDOWS FATEL EXCEPTION 06 HAS OCCURRED AT 015F:BFF80EAF). These errors are only when I use restart. When I power down and back up I get no errors and the computer works great. I have Disabled my L2 Cache with no difference, I have changed my Video card to a slower one, I have taken my motherboard back to the store and they tested it and said it was fine, I have reformatted the hard drive and still get the same thing. I have checked the Bootlog and all looks fine, I have gone into my System device manager and nothing is wrong. Does anyone have any ideas?? Thank You! |
