Can anyone recommend any programs that will play .mov files other than quicktime and quicktime alternative?

mov files are exclusive to Apple. If you're not running a MAC, I believe the only program that will open them is Quicktime (Apple software). There may be video converter software that will convert the mov files, but you'd have to look for that..

IrfanView (plugin required)

There was a nice little program call Quick Editor for editing MOV files - but also served as a player - seems to be no longer available (at least for the PC).

Thinking - it's a habit.

The extention mov can be played by ifranview or windows media player. You just have to set your extentions to read mov in the options.

If at first you don't suceed,
format.

Quicktime or Quicktime Lite.....
The first is official from Apple, the second from unknown (to me) but works without bugs.

On p2p shareing which d/l files as .dat I use avi preview to see if the files actually are what they are supposed to be.

I use quikview for viewing .mov as the *proper* qt players sucks big time

real media I don`t bother with unless i absoultely have to so i installed real alternative.

I also use jet audio for midi and .wav anfd mp3

a lot depends on what my system is doing , if there is a lot of processer time free then i`ll use jet audio for plain avi and mpeg also but usually my system is working its nuts off so i tend to use quikview or use my other system to view it!!!

You could always try Kodak Easyshare software, I use this myself to playback .mov files.

Hope this helps.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.
