Hi
There should be no problem. A stable computer/system, should really have no reason to stop.
So relax and stop worrying.

My experience with Win98 is that it really doesn't like to run 24/7. It just seems to get sluggish. I usually do a restart every day or so. Leaving it on won't do any actual harm, but you might experience an occasional lock-up from time to time. A reboot seems to solve this problem.

Bearing in mind what Don says about software, from a hardware point of view, a computer left on permanately will last longer than one that is turned on and off every day providing there is adequate cooling.
Less stress from the initial current surge and temprature fluctuations.
Of course, electricity consumption is another matter.

"a computer left on permanately will last longer than one that is turned on and off every day"
That used to be true back in the old days. These days components are so much more reliable that turning a machine on and off is no longer a real cause for worry.

From what I've been told, concerning Windows 98, it has a bug in it where resources dwindle the more you open Windows Explorer windows to manage files. The more windows you open, the more resoures are consumed. Eventually, after time, it will take at least two minutes to open a window.
This can graphically be observed by using the various Resource Meter tools.
The problem is with Windows 98 itself. Microsoft is aware of the issue and will not be offering a fix.
A solution is to restart Windows 98 at least once every three days, or more often if you're using the system a lot.
But as for the system itself, there's nothing wrong with leaving it on all the time. I do that frequently with some of my systems, because I use them alot. (the internet sharing computer here has been on for a few months at least)
