I'm fairly good at writing source codes as I have done a lot of Outlook stationery html. I wrote up a web page now via doing my own source codes, etc. I saved it as an html document on my computer and it opens up the way I like it to. It currently links to all the photos and files I have stored on my computer (the path--I understand I will have to change my computer path to image\? once the photos are installed on the web server). Now I need to get this on a server I guess? Its all ready but I don't know what to do with my files. Any feedback or place to go to read about what to do now with my finished product? I think my cable company lets me put a web page there but iIwould prefer to have a domain name for this page so I guess that is another question too.

Open up any computer magazine, look in the back pages -- there usually are a dozen outfits that would love to set you up (for a fee, of course)

That is why I am posting here as I have no access to such magazines where we live. Thanks for that lead though. I have a great script that I put together but I don't know what to do with it.

Here's a popular domain hosting service.

You need a domain and webspace. You will be given a password, user name, root directory location and some other info. The people who sell you the domain name and hosting will walk you thru setting up the site and setting up your ftp software.

ws_ftp and filezilla are two free ftp programs. FTP programs let you move files to your web directory.

In your web directory if you create a folder for images named "image" you would change the links in your html from C:\images\whatever.jpg to http://www.yourdomain.com/image/whatever.jpg.

Same with any other files. Just change the local address to the web address.

When you build a navigation menu or include links in your site to other pages pages be sure to include the full path to all the pages.

http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html instead of just index.html.

This helps with search engine ranking.

Dotster is where i regsitered my domain and pair is my host. Good service, cheap price.

You might want to find one company to do both. This will save you some trouble. Heres a link to godaddy.com They offer decent rates.

If you dont want to pay check out www.brinkster.com. They offer ad free webspace and they have an online ftp tool. You dont get your own domain but its free. Your address would be like www20.brinkster.com/yoursitesname.
