What is Kernel32.dll and I can I replace

I keep getting an error that says cannot run application because of "kernel32.dll". It happens with random applications, not really specicif to one program. Can I reload that Kernel32.dll from my win98se cd?

some time ago i too had some of those problems, i was advised before going technical that i should invest in a piece of software called fix-it 2000 and use the registry fixer first and the registry defrag second found there within the software. the package includes anti-v and some other specialized stuff. i no longer have as many errors and the system is working much faster.

Try this,having your Win98 Installation Disc inserted in your CD-ROM: Go to Start button>Run and enter: sfc This will run the System File Checker which will search for corrupted or damaged system files(such as kernel32.dll),and it will repair them using the Win98 installation Disc. If it's kernel's file problem it will be fixxed,but if it's a Registry's erased command it will do nothing. Anyway you have nothing to loose trying it.
