I am asuming it is a self extracting ISO file. But is an ISO file an image file for some kind of cd burning software? I use EZ CD Creator.... an it uses CIF files. If it is what do I need to open/burn it.

I could be wrong, but all the double extention file names as you mentioned usually are viruses. Scan it to be sure. I have been taught anything that has a double extention whether it be: .iso.exe or .jpg.doc. it is a virus so beware.

Virus is what it looks like to me.
The .iso file should be as is or in a compressed (zip) folder no reason to be double extensioned.

An ISO file is a complete image of a CD. It contains all of the data stored on a certain CD, every single byte (a complete snapshot of a CD).

I tried to open an iso.exe file but it says it is not a valid win32 app. It's not zipped. How can I get it to run?

YOu f---ing idiots! its obviously not a virus.. its has a double extension because he probibly got it off kazaa. and kazaa allows you to search for .exe files only, so since its and iso file the person sharing it renamed it as a iso.exe file so it could show up on a kazaa search. just remove the .exe form the end of the file and use an iso buster to extract it.. jeessh!!

I agree about the double extention being Kazaa-born. I was wondering myself... Thx SAMo.

I am doing the same thing, your CD's are probably 74min CD's (650 mb). Your going to need to purchase 80min CD's (700 mb) to fit the program on.

I was having the same problems, but what is an "ISO buster"? I can't just take off the .exe by right double click the file and "rename" it? Is "winiso" like winzip?

I also had the same problem of not getting a .iso.exe file to become a .iso file. I tried in options to change the name. But that didn't work, somehow you have to change the filetype I think, but don't ask me how.

OK. first thing that you have to do is move your file to a root directory and rename it something simple so it's easy to find from a dos prompt. Then go to the run command from your start menu and type "command". Once you're into the console then go to the directory where the file is located. Then rename it into an iso. Example: rename whatever.iso.exe whatever.iso
After you've done that with all the files then you can leave the command console and use an iso extracting program. The best one I've found is ISObuster. It's easy enough to find online that you shouldn't have a problem getting ahold of it. If you have any trouble with size errors trying to extract it to the CD then try using the "extract raw to user data" command instead of just a straight raw burn. This'll put it into standard directory format onto your harddrive so you can just drag that to the CD and save it. Good luck to you all, and I hope that helped straighten out this confusion a little.
