I constantly receive errors telling me that Iexplore has caused an illegal operation. They cause it to become impossible to close Internet Explorer and shutdown the computer correctly. I was hoping someone could interpret this and tell me what to do.

Okay this is a problem I had, about.. 1 year ago. Okay this is what you do, Goto start.
At the very top you should see windows
update click that wait for a sec click yes when the windows pops up and scan for updates.
Read What the updates are for.
If you install the newest IE v. it will solve any problems that you might have.
some time spyware can mess up your computer,
I recomend this program

Hi Kilence, Metthew, hello everyone
Kilence,
Are you using McAfee VirusScan?
.
If so, check out this linkBest Regards,
Mesich

I use Spybot: Search and Destroy and a current virus scanner, although not McAfee. Both of these find absolutely no problem with my computer.
The update thing isn't going to happen either. As I stated before, I'm using Windows 95. This makes it impossible for me to update Internet Explorer any further than 5.5.
Anything else?

Have you tried IE Repair?
If not, double click Microsoft IE & Tools entry in Control Panel/Add-Remove. Unless you are still on the very first IE5 version it should give you the repair option.
Derek.W

Kilence, you do not want to upgrade to a later version(IE-6) just check for any v5.5 updates/patches esp. any labled Critical.
