I have a friend who is running Win98, 248MB, 900Mhz computer. Each time that she boot into windows she is prompted with "There is a problem with your display settings. The adapter type is incorrect, or the current settings do not work with your hardware." She has a flat panel monitor. She said that it began to do this whenever she took the Bonzi Buddy off. I checked inside her display adapaters, but saw no conflicts. Also...when running scandisk through MS-DOS, there is a bad sector that whenever the scandisk get to the bad sector it will freeze. Do you think that this may have anything to do with the adapter display problem? What do you think? Thanks in advance.
Scandisk usually takes it's time when marking bad sectors and moving files. You should let it complete it's function. It could be that the adapter files are in these sectors and that is what is causing the problems. Think about backing up your files in case things start going bad.
The computer will literally lock up, for the num lock light will not go off when pressed on the keyboard. I waited to see if it was going to repair it, but it never did and that I waited for more than an hour.
Run scandisk 'thorough' if you haven't been. It might take a few hours on a large drive.

My suggestion to you would be to go to Add/Remove and uninstall Bonzi Buddy. Second, if you installed drivers for your new monitor, they aren't required. Go to device manager and remove anything under Display Adaptor. Restart and when the wizard runs, use your Win98SE disk to find your display adaptor drivers. When that's done, then run a full maintenance and everything should be fine. Good luck
