Simple, You get what you pay for. That which costs nothing is usually worth every cent.

Hello Merlin,
I had never heard of this isp, there was one isp which was free and also a search engine, the isp was alta vista. This was an excellent isp with very few drop outs, the search engine is also good quality, so the point of this post, don't judge anything by the price you pay or don't pay for it. The information you get from this website would cost mucho denaro in the marketplace.

I understand the concept.. freedom of speech blah blah blah but from this paragraph alone i assume this service will be great for internet criminals :

:::found in the freenet faq:::

I don't want my node to be used to harbor kiddie porn, offensive content or terrorism. What can I do?

The true test of someone who claims to believe in Freedom of Speech is whether they tolerate speech which they disagree with, or even find disgusting. If this is not acceptable to you, you should not run a Freenet node.

:::End of Faq:::

Im all for free speech but im definately against this and i assume services like this are the reason so many freedoms are being taken away in the first place. Im also against sites that teach young women how to hide there easting disorders but some people think its ok.

Dont confuse this service with "free isp" because its not even close but i agree.. price doesnt always determine quality. Some of the best things on the net are still free from firewalls to message boards.

actually, I like it....yeah, it will be used by criminals...but you know what?, in this country (the USA) freedom of speech and freedom in general means the freedom to commit crimes...when corporate america allows some people to become millionaires than it is not really a crime for an average guy to get a little piece of the pie.

the USA is quickly becoming the Fourth Reich, with our dictator George W. Hitler....anything to protect the citizens right to move and share information freely can only help us end this reign of terror our current administration has us under

I agree with that don but freenet's use of nodes requires you to allow your computer to be used for storing kiddie porn.

If someone else wants to do this go for it. Im not.
