Weird CD-Drive problem

CPU/Ram: P3 450mhz / 350mb

Hi, When ever I put a disk(video game disk) into the CD-ROM drive I get a blue screen (like the one when the computer is waighting for the End Program Dialog box to come up) and if I hit "any button the computer crashes and if I hit escape it crashes what can I do...?

It might help if you told us what the stop error (blue screen) says. Of course it may be to cryptic to help but you never know.

Click Start/Run and type in SFC and hit enter. During the system file check SETUPX.DLL will show up, ignore it. If any others show up extract them from the Windows 98 Cd.

If that fails, open Device Manager and remove the Cd-Rom, reboot and let Windows detect new hardware and install the drivers for it.

As a last resort you may have to reinstall Windows over itself to replace any corrupted system files.
