Weird bars and white faded blotches

Weird bars and white faded blotches on screen? Happened after I changed desktop from 640 X 800 to 800 X 640. It used to start out with my mouse pointer turning into a black block with bars on it or sometimes not. But now I have lowered hardware performance for my monitor so now I just see weird bars and white faded blotches overlaying on IE pages since I mainly use my comp for internet. I have not noticed it anywhere else. So I doubt it is a driver problem I checked that out, maybe display adapter, though I could not find one for my brand online. Any other possible scenarios I'm missing? Underneath this somewhere should be a link to my screenshot.

Ok I took apart the problem and this is what i came up with... here it goes: Ok first i thouhgt it was your monitor that was shot (which still is a possability) because when monitors are about to die they do a subernova type thing whare the collors start to do wierd things before it craps out (i know from experience :( ) Then i hurd you mention a screenshot that by the way is not posted. If even the screen shot showed the monitor error, that it does not have to do with the output (monitor) it is the video card. This is my first guess, but there could be othere things still al well... ~Tyler~
P.S. - Have you tried degaussing your monitor a few times?
