Hello everyone,

After doing a search on Google for converting html color codes I click on a link to a site. The site started to come up and the computer restarted. Once it rebooted I tried to go to the site again and the computer restarted.

I tried several of the other hits from Google and had no problem. I also tried it on another computer with no problem. Appears to be just the one link and this computer.

Here is several things I checked out already.

Ran an updated Spybot S&D.
Ran an updated Trojan Hunter.
Cleaned up all cookies, temp internet, history files.
Ran an updated AVG.
Check the registry for the most common locations such as Run, and Services.

Here is a link to the site.

Very odd, has anyone seen something like this?

Best Regards,
Mesich

Mesich,

I had no problems with the link. Anyway, here's another 216 color page and the pagetutor url with other helpful info.

Hi James, hi Skip, hello everyone,

James,

Same problem with any settings for the JavaScript. Thanks for responding.

Skip,

It is IE 6.0 SP1, same as the other computer.

You still owe me a bucket. :-)

I have vistited the site in the past on many occasions without difficulties. Very strange it started this only today, only on this computer and this particular site.

Shall try it again now and let you know the results.

Best Regards,
Mesich

Hi everyone,

Johoh,

Appears we were posting at the same time, thanks for the info. Sorry to take so long to reply but after checking the link I had to wait for the computer to restart. :-)

Anymore info on the QuickTime? It is not install on this computer.

Best Regards,
Mesich

Mesich - I just had noticed that when I went to the page quicktime jumped up and told me I needed to download additional quicktime components in order to play the sounds for the page. That surprised me because my browser is set to not play sounds. So I thought maybe something is snafu'd with that part of the html, or maybe quicktime itself was crashing for you.

Hi James, Skip, Johnoh, hello everyone,

I didn't think anything about the sound and Quicktime, I noticed it after your post and then after trying it again on the other computer. Not using any sound on this one, although the drivers are loaded and there are no conflicts in the Device Manager. Interesting though as it crashes and the computer restarts about the time the sound should begin.

It's not really a big issue as there are many places to convert the Hex to RGB. I'm just finding it very odd and now very curious as to the culprit.

Gotta run to a clients but shall be back in a few hours. If I find out what's up I'll post back. Any and all ideas are welcome and very much appreciated.

Best regards and wishes,
Mesich

Mesich,

Here's a couple of M$ pages that may help...I don't fully understand VML and IFRAMEs so it's a shot in the dark.

I also use IE 6.0 SP1 and MyIE2; QuickTime is also loaded on my machine, but no problems with any of it.

Hi Skip, hello everyone,

Been busy with work and some family things.

It is not fixed but I have isolated the problem to the on-board sound. Disabling it in the bios allows to page to be loaded and viewed.

Thanks for everyones input it's greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,
Mesich

Hi Mesich, James, Skip, johnoh, hi everyone

Has been a while since you guy's heard of me huh? Well I've been keeping an eye on every now and than. .-)
I read this post yesterday evening/night (from my point of view) and must admit I don't have a clue..., and by the latest post I'm even more at a loss here. :-(

How can it be that a onboard sound (chip) interferes with loading a web-page? %-)
Strange, really strange... but if Mesich say's that it interferes, I'm the first to believe him o:-)

If you have a reasonable explanation, please step forward and explain it.

And...uuh, Skip when are you going to return Mesich his ice bucket filled with some nice cold Corona's? ;-)

Greetz,
The Count (November 23rd, 00:13 hours)

Gentlemen,

I can't even come up with an absurd explanation for this. I recall AC97 sound having some problems with sound codecs but that's been quite some time ago.

Count, I may attend a Vietnam reunion thing in Florida in the spring...might be a good chance to stop in Kentucky and return the ice bucket. It's curently busy holding up a bottle of sour mash.

Hi Skip, James, Johnoh, The Count, hi everyone,

I have also not been on the computer for the last few days. Had a job come up that was much larger than expected.

I am going to play around with this a bit more once I've caught up on a few other things and will post the findings. Very strange indeed.

We will have to get together Skip if you make it to these parts for a couple of cold ones.

Best Regards,
Mesich

Hi James, Skip, Johnoh, The Count, hello everyone,

Odd as it may seem, I downloaded the latest drivers for the sound card and re-enabled it in the bios. Page loaded right up.

Thanks everyone for the input.

Best Regards,
Mesich
