During installation of my Logitech Quickcam Express, windows98 installs it as an unknown device under USB controllers. It seems like windows snatches it and puts it where it wants without letting the software put it where its supposed to go... Any advise??

Remove the device settings that windows gave it (in device manager) and then manually install it using the drivers supplied.

You don't need to delete and re-detect the device. Go to device manager (Win key + pause/break key), double click on the device, select the driver tab, and click on update driver. Then just point it towards your driver disk and it install the drivers you want.
